Osman İLHAN, Hematologist - Ankara, Turkey

He graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 1978. After earning his specialization in internal diseases at the same Faculty in 1982, he did his military service as a chief assistant at GATA Hematology Clinic. After his compulsory service duty was given at SSK Ulus Hospital, he returned to Ankara University Faculty of Medicine for minor specialization.

He became associate professor of hematology in 1990. He worked in Genoa, Italy to increase his knowledge and experience on leukemia. He took part in the first blood stem cell transplant team in Turkey.

He went to the USA in 1996 and got M.D. At the Anderson Cancer Center, Prof. Dr. Martin Korbling and Prof.

He became a professor of hematology in 1996.

In 1999, he was elected regional president of the ESFH (European Society for Hemapheresis).

Hemapheresis Association Founding President in 2000, Dr. İlhan entered the management of the World Apheresis Association (WAA) in 2001. Again in October 2001, he became the President of the Turkish Hematology Association. Active in the European Union of Hematology (EHA), Dr. İlhan made a board of education within the body of ECAH (European Hematology Accreditation Committee). As Provider Status, he took part in the accreditation of the congress and course held in Turkey and paved the way for Turkish hematologists in CME credits.

He served as the founding president of the Cellular Therapy and Regenerative Medicine Association, which was founded in 2008.

In 2011, he became the founding president of the Geriatric Hematology Society.

He is the 'Honorary President' of the World Apheresis Congress (WAA) held in 2012. Having previously served on drug licensing and ethics committees at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Ilhan; He served as the Chairman of the Photopheresis-Apheresis Commission and the Chairman of the Bone Marrow Transplant Scientific Committee, as well as the Chairman of the National Organ Tissue Cell Coordination Committee, the Cord Blood Scientific Committee and the Stem Cell Research Committee.

He is the founding chairman of the KÖK CELL FOUNDATION.

He played an important role in the establishment of TURKOK (Turkish Stem Cell Donor Bank). With more than 300 publications in Pub-Med registered journals, Dr. Ilhan's; It has over 5000 citations and a H Factor of 34, 1050 EHA-CME credits. It has the Platinum CME certificate of the European Hematology Association.
